Natural Hair Conditioning

Brahmi powder is known in India to help hair grow longer and shinier.  It also helps condition the hair.  It is excellent for dark hair colors.   Mix 1-2 tablespoon Silk & Stone Brahmi powder with warm water to make a paste and apply on your scalp and hair twice a month. Do not use Brahmi on light hair color for more than 5 minutes.  It may cause a slight yellow tint to the hair.

Use of Silk & Stone Cassia Powder for Conditioning:

Cassia Obovata powder is also commonly known as neutral henna for its conditioning properties that are similar to henna powder (Lawsonia inermis). The nice thing about cassia is that it can be used to deep condition the hair without adding color to the hair.  It is not like a regular store-bought conditioner so if you are looking for something that will detangle as it conditions, you might want to use a detangler over the cassia.

Mix 3 to 5 tablespoons of Silk & Stone Cassia powder with just enough water to make a thin paste and apply on your scalp and hair as a conditioner after every bath.  Wash off after 5 minutes.  Cassia may cause a slight yellow tint to light hair when used for longer than 10 minutes.

Use of Yogurt

Yogurt is an excellent conditioner.  It works exceptionally well when mixed with oil.  Traditional Pakistani and Indian recipes include yogurt mixed with mustard oil or olive oil.  This recipe leaves your hair soft, hydrated, and feeling wonderful!  Repeat twice a month.  Be sure to clean out the hair thoroughly with a shampoo otherwise, the residue of the yogurt will leave your hair smelling.....well, let's say....not so good.

  • Mix 1/2 cup yogurt with 1 tablespoon oil of your choice.  Make up double the quantity if your hair is extra long on long and thick.
  • Apply to your entire hair and scalp
  • Leave on for 1 hour.
  • Wash thoroughly with shampoo
