Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Vast 40 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Vast 40 mg Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Taking Atorvastatin with alcohol may increase the risk of liver damage.
Vast 40 mg Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.
Vast 40 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Vast 40 mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Vast 40 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Vast 40 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Vast 40 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Vast 40 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Vast 40 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
