Pentasa 1 gm Suppository is an aminosalicylate. It works directly on the site of inflammation (swelling) in the lower parts of large intestine (colon and rectum) to provide rapid relief from attacks of ulcerative colitis. It suppresses the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause intestinal inflammation, thereby reducing ulceration, bleeding and painful symptoms.
