Rowasa 1 gm Pellets is an aminosalicylate. It works by suppressing the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation (swelling) in the intestines. This reduces ulceration, bleeding and painful symptoms, and prevents future flare-ups of the disease.

Rowasa 1 gm Pellets may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Rowasa 1 gm Pellets is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
If you are taking Rowasa 1 gm Pellets, monitor the baby for diarrhea.
Rowasa 1 gm Pellets does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Rowasa 1 gm Pellets should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Rowasa 1 gm Pellets may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Rowasa 1 gm Pellets is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
