How to use Lacrisol Eye Drop

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off the extra liquid.

How Medicine Works

Lacrisol Eye Drop is a combination of three medicines: Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, Glycerin and Dextran 70 which treat dry eyes. They are lubricating formulations which provide temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness in the eye.

Expert Advice

• Your doctor has prescribed Lacrisol Eye Drop to reduce dryness in the eyes.
• Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after putting the medication. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
• Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
• Try to keep your environment less dry by reducing excessive use of room heaters or using a humidifier.
• Wear glasses or sunglasses to protect your eyes from wind and dust when out in a hot, dry climate.
• Rest your eyes by taking regular breaks if you spend long periods in front of a screen.
