Kolq Plus Suspension is composed of antipyretic, analgesic, antiallergic, expectorants, and soothing agents. Paracetamol blocks the release of certain chemicals (prostaglandins) that cause pain and fever. When human body is exposed to an allergen (pollen, house dust, animal dander etc.), it produces a chemical called histamine causing runny or blocked nose, watery eyes, sneezing, itching, skin rashes etc. Chlorpheniramine maleate blocks the action of histamine, thereby relieving these symptoms. Phenylephrine works by narrowing the small blood vessels which provides temporary relief from inflammation (redness and swelling) and discomfort. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic medication. It thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out. Ammonium chloride works by decreasing the stickiness of phlegm and helps remove it from the airways. Menthol works by producing a mild anesthetic action causing numbness and a cooling sensation in the area of application.
