How Medicine Works

Zoneph Eye Drop is a combination of five medicines: Naphazoline, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Boric Acid, Sodium Chloride and Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose. Naphazoline is a decongestant which narrows the blood vessels of the eye to relieve inflammation (redness and swelling). Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which blocks the action of certain chemical messengers responsible for red, itchy, teary eyes. Boric acid is an antiseptic which treats bacterial infection in the eyes and relieves irritation. Sodium chloride is a purified salt solution which works by drawing out water from swollen cornea. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricating formulation similar to natural tears. It provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness in the eye.
