Protussa Cough Syrup is used in the treatment of dry cough. It is used for the temporary relief of cough due to throat irritation, sneezing, and running nose.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Protussa Cough Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.
Protussa Cough Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, which relieves dry cough. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic which helps reduce cough associated with allergies by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger, histamine. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant which relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough center in the brain.

Protussa Cough Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Protussa Cough Syrup is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Protussa Cough Syrup may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Protussa Cough Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Protussa Cough Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Protussa Cough Syrup is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.
