Polydex Eye/Ear Drops is to be used only in the affected eye or ear. Read the label carefully for instruction before you use the medicine. Complete your dose and do not stop using the medicine even if you feel better until the doctor says it is alright to stop.Use of this medicine may cause application site reactions such as burning sensation, irritation, itching, and redness immediately after instilling the medicine. These are usually temporary and resolve with time. However, if they persist or get worse, inform your doctor. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth in the eye/ear by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by the bacteria to carry out vital functions. Dexamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye/ear red, swollen and itchy.
