Liofen 500 Injection starts working after 0.5-1 hours when the injection is given as a bolus (a large amount of medication is infused at a time). The effect of the medicine can be observed after 4 hours of administration which will last for 4-8 hours. However, if it is given as a continuous infusion then it takes about 6-8 hours to show its effect which reaches its peak within 24 to 48 hours.
Suddenly discontinuing intrathecal (given in spinal fluid) Liofen 500 Injection injection may cause serious side effects such as high fever, severe muscle spasm, and rigidity. These side effects can progress to dangerous consequences and can even lead to death. Therefore, the medicine should be gradually reduced.
