How to use Novelon Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Novelon Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Medicine Works

Novelon Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill. It works by preventing the release of egg (ovulation) and affecting sperm movement in the womb to prevent its union with the egg. It also changes the lining of the womb and renders it unsuitable for pregnancy.

Takind Desogestrel with alcohol may cause minor drug interactions which may not be clinically relevant in all patients.

Novelon Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor.

Novelon Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Nonhormonal and progestin-only contraceptives are preferred in breastfeeding women, especially during the first 4 weeks postpartum

Novelon Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.

There is limited information available on the use of Novelon Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.

Novelon Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Novelon Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Novelon Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
