Your lifestyle plays a big part in controlling diabetes.The most common side effects of this medicine may include flatulence, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fluid retention (edema), and increased liver enzymes. However, these are temporary and usually subside on their own. If these do not resolve or worry you, please consult your doctor. He/she might suggest ways of dealing with your side effects or treating them if they are bothersome.You should not take it if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus, if you have diabetic ketoacidosis (high levels of acid in your blood), or if you have severe kidney or liver disease. Glucobay M50 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Glucobay M50 Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
It is not known whether Glucobay M50 Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Glucobay M50 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Glucobay M50 Tablet is recommended.
Use of Glucobay M50 Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
