Usage of Zoldria 4mg Injection

Zoldria 4 mg Injection is used in the treatment of osteoporosis. It treats osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk of fractures.

How to use Zoldria 4mg Injection

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

How Medicine Works

Zoldria 4 mg Injection is a bisphosphonate. It works by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone. This strengthens the bones and minimizes the risk of fractures.

Zoldria 4 mg Injection is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.

Zoldria 4 mg Injection is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.

Zoldria 4 mg Injection may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.

Expert Advice

  • It is given by injection into a vein, usually over at least 15 minutes or as directed by your doctor.
  • Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration and kidney damage.
  • It can lower the level of calcium in the blood. Take calcium and vitamin D supplements as suggested by your doctor.
  • You may develop fever or flu like symptoms, such as chills, tiredness and weakness. These are usually temporary and should go away after a few days. You may take a pain reliever/fever reducer to prevent or treat these symptoms.
  • It may cause a rare condition called osteonecrosis of the jaw. Have regular dental check-ups and inform your doctor if you develop sudden pain in your jaw.
  • Your doctor will monitor your response to Zoldria 4 mg Injection by testing your bone mineral density (BMD). This is usually done every 1-3 years.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Q. How to cope-up with nausea and vomiting that occurs after taking Zoldria?

Nausea and vomiting due to Zoldria maybe temporary and it will go away within a day. If you are experiencing nausea or vomiting after having Zoldria, try distracting yourself with some work, and you should try to get plenty of fresh air to minimize your nausea.You should drink plenty of water or electrolytes solution (ORS) after vomiting to prevent dehydration. Please contact your doctor if you had more than 3 episodes of vomiting.
