Usage of Dermicort Cream

Description of Dermicort Cream

Dermicort Cream is meant only for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. You should normally clean and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of the medicine evenly on the affected skin. You should not apply it on open wounds or damaged skin.Use it regularly to get the maximum benefit from it. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with plenty of water in case of accidental contact. Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor.It is usually well tolerated with little or no side effects. However it may cause application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, and redness in some people. These side effects are temporary and usually go away with time. However, if they persist or worsen, let your doctor know. It is important for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to consult their doctors before using this medicine.

    No, Dermicort Cream should not be used on the face. In addition to this, Dermicort Cream should not be used on the axillae (armpits), groin and if there is atrophy (wasting away of tissues) at the treatment site. In certain circumstances, it can be exceptionally considered to be used by the doctors. It should be used only after consultation with your physician and if possible, the application on the face should be limited to a maximum of 5 days.

  • Can we use Dermicort Cream in infections?

    Dermicort Cream is not an antimicrobial or antifungal agent. It is a steroid medication. It should not be used in infections as being a corticosteroid it suppresses the immune system and increases the risk of infections. Bacterial infections are prone to worsen if the infection is covered with a dressing after using Dermicort Cream. In case the inflammatory lesions get infected or there is any spread of infection, consult your doctor immediately. The doctor will withdraw the use of Dermicort Cream and provide appropriate antimicrobial therapy.

  • How to use Dermicort Cream?

    Before using Dermicort Cream, clean and dry the affected area. Gently and thoroughly massage it into the skin. Be careful not to get the medication in your eyes or mouth. If Dermicort Cream gets in your eyes accidentally, wash with plenty of water and call your doctor if your eyes are irritated.
