Benadryl DR Syrup is a mixture drug that is mostly used to treat dry cough and allergy, cold, and bronchitis symptoms. It has Diphenhydramine in it, which is an antihistamine that stops the effects of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. This stops coughing, sneezing, and a runny nose. Also in it are expectorants like Ammonium Chloride and Sodium Citrate, which help loosen mucus and make it easier to clear the lungs. This syrup is known to help quickly with a dry cough that won't go away, sore throats, and other breathing problems. It is usually only meant to be used for a short time and should only be taken under the direction of a doctor to avoid side effects like sleepiness, dry mouth, or dizziness.
