How Medicine Works

Decomic Eye Drop is a combination of three medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Phenylephrine and Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic which blocks the action of certain chemical messengers responsible for red, itchy, teary eyes. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the blood vessels of the eye to relieve inflammation (redness and swelling). Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricant similar to natural tears. It provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness in the eye.

Expert Advice

  • Decomic Eye Drop provides soothing relief from eye irritation due to allergy.
  • Decomic Eye Drop should usually be used twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day.
  • Wash your hands first before applying Decomic Eye Drop. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. If it does, squeeze out two or three drops straightaway onto some tissue and rinse the tip with saltwater.
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after putting the medication. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
