How to use Magneon Injection

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

How Medicine Works

Magneon 50% Injection controls seizures and high blood pressure in pregnant women by widening the blood vessels in the brain and improving the blood supply to the nerve cells. It also treats low levels of magnesium in the blood.

Magneon 50% Injection is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.

Magneon 50% Injection is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

It is not known whether Magneon 50% Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.

Magneon 50% Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Magneon 50% Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Magneon 50% Injection is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Magneon 50% Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Expert Advice

This drug can be taken orally for constipation. But for rest of the indication it is usually given by a doctor or a nurse as an injection directly into the vein or muscle.Do not give oral magnesium sulphate to children under 12 years.Antibiotics should be taken either 2 hours prior or 4 hours after taking magnesium sulphate.Do not take magnesium and consult your doctor:

  • If you suffer from bleeding disorder, heart block, kidney problems, or breathing problems.
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • If you are taking medicines acting on nervous system, for heart problems, for high blood pressure.
  • If you are going to be given an anesthetic.
