Methercip Injection is an ergot alkaloid. It works by causing sustained contractions of the smooth muscles of the uterus. This results in compression of the blood vessels which controls bleeding after delivery.

Methercip Injection should be used with caution during lactation. Breast feeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
It is not known whether Methercip Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
