Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Avoid Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule with high-fat meals such as olive oil, nuts & seeds (Brazil nuts), dark chocolate, butter and meat.
Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule is a long-acting beta blocker that works specifically on the heart. It works by slowing down the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

Taking Metoprolol with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule is recommended.
Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metolar XR 12.5 Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
